“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” — Ephesians 6:11
“Spiritual strength is not accidental; it is chosen each day when we put on what God has provided.” — Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
Each day brings its own battles, though not all are seen. Temptation, discouragement, and confusion often come quietly, pressing against our thoughts and decisions. God, in His wisdom, has not left us unprotected. He has given us spiritual armor, not as a symbol of fear, but as a declaration of readiness. Just as a soldier prepares before stepping into conflict, we are called to prepare our hearts and minds before stepping into the day. This preparation is an act of agency, choosing truth over deception and faith over fear.
Imagine stepping into a storm without proper covering. The wind and rain would quickly overwhelm you. In the same way, facing life without God’s armor leaves us vulnerable to the pressures of the world. Truth steadies us like a firm belt, righteousness guards our hearts, and faith acts as a shield against doubt. These are not abstract ideas but daily choices. When we forgive, we wear righteousness. When we trust God despite uncertainty, we lift the shield of faith. When we stand firm in truth, we resist being carried away by falsehood.
Putting on the armor of God is not a one-time event but a daily commitment. It requires intention, discipline, and reliance on the Lord. As we actively choose to clothe ourselves in His strength, we grow in confidence and clarity. This is how we stand firm in a shifting world. It is how we live with purpose and conviction. Walking in this armor reflects the life of Christ, who stood in truth, walked in righteousness, and overcame through faith.
Scripture:
“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” — Ephesians 6:11
Daily Application:
Begin your day with prayer, intentionally naming each piece of God’s armor and asking for strength to live it out.
