“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth.” — Romans 1:16
“Courage is not the absence of fear, but the decision to stand for truth when fear has a voice.” — Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
Courage is often imagined as loud and fearless, but in the lives of Esther and Paul, it was steady, deliberate, and anchored in purpose. Esther walked into the king’s court knowing that one misstep could cost her life. Paul stood before King Agrippa, not as a man defending his comfort, but as one bearing witness to truth regardless of consequence. Both moments reveal that courage is less about personality and more about conviction. It is the quiet resolve to act when retreat would be easier.
In a world that rewards comfort and silence, courage becomes a sacred act of agency. Like a bridge that holds under pressure, moral courage supports truth when it is most tested. Esther did not act for personal gain, and Paul did not soften his message to gain favor. Their courage flowed from alignment with divine purpose. When we choose to stand for what is right, even when it costs us reputation, security, or ease, we participate in a higher law that governs freedom itself.
Christlike courage is not reckless or prideful. It is rooted in love and obedience. Jesus Christ Himself stood before rulers and accusers without wavering, speaking truth with clarity and grace. To follow Him is to develop the kind of courage that speaks, acts, and endures in righteousness. This kind of courage does not seek conflict, but it never flees from truth.
