“Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” — Joshua 1:9
“Truth stands firm on its own, but it takes courage to stand with it.” — Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
Truth is not fragile, yet living by it often feels costly. In a world that rewards convenience and punishes conviction, courage becomes the bridge between knowing what is right and actually doing it. Like a compass pointing north, truth remains steady regardless of the terrain, but it is up to each of us to follow its direction when the path grows steep. Without courage, truth is admired from a distance but rarely lived.
Moral courage is not loud or boastful. It is quiet, steady, and deeply rooted in principle. It shows up when a person chooses honesty over approval, integrity over comfort, and conviction over compromise. Just as a foundation determines the strength of a house, truth determines the strength of a life. When storms come, only what is built on truth will endure. Courage is what allows that foundation to be laid in the first place.
Christ exemplified this perfectly. He spoke truth with clarity and love, even when it led to rejection and sacrifice. To follow Him is to accept that truth may not always be popular, but it will always be right. Living courageously in truth aligns our lives with His example and invites a deeper sense of peace and purpose.
