Daily Devotional - August 12th, 2026
“If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” — Matthew 17:20

Commentary:
We are naturally drawn to what is large, dramatic, and immediately visible. We may think meaningful change requires extraordinary talent, influence, wealth, or opportunity. Yet God repeatedly works through what appears small. A quiet prayer, a difficult apology, a few minutes in Scripture, one honest decision, one act of service, one step toward repentance. These things may seem insignificant in the moment, but when placed in God’s hands, small and simple acts can become the beginning of something far greater than we can presently see.
Jesus taught that faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains. The power is not found in the physical size of the seed, but in the life God has placed within it. A seed does not become a tree overnight. It grows through light, nourishment, patience, and time. Faith grows much the same way. We exercise it through repeated choices to trust God when circumstances are uncertain. Freedom itself is preserved by this same principle. Strong families, honest communities, and righteous nations are built through countless individual decisions to choose truth, responsibility, courage, and goodness when no one is watching.
Never underestimate what God can accomplish through one faithful decision today. You may not see the mountain move immediately, but obedience plants something eternal into the soil of your life. As we faithfully do the small things Christ has asked of us, we gradually become more like Him and more capable of accomplishing the great purposes He has prepared for us.
