“Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.” — Matthew 5:5
“Meekness is not the absence of power, but the discipline to use power righteously.” — Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
Meekness is often misunderstood in a loud and impatient world. It is mistaken for timidity, silence, or surrender. In truth, meekness is strength that has learned restraint. It is power governed by principle. A wild horse is impressive, but a trained horse is useful. The same is true of human character. Raw force may intimidate, but disciplined strength builds, protects, and blesses.
The scriptures consistently honor the meek, not because they are passive, but because they are anchored. The meek do not need to prove themselves through dominance or outrage. They know who they are and whose they are. Their confidence does not come from applause or victory in argument, but from alignment with moral law. Like a well-built dam holding back a river, meekness channels force into life-giving direction instead of destruction. That kind of strength preserves freedom rather than consuming it.
Christ embodied this truth perfectly. He had power to command legions, yet chose service. He had authority to condemn, yet extended mercy. His meekness did not diminish His strength; it revealed it. When we choose meekness, we do not abandon courage. We refine it. We learn when to speak and when to be still, when to act and when to wait. Meekness requires greater effort than aggression because it demands self-mastery. It is the strength to obey God even when pride urges us otherwise. This is the posture that allows us to live Christlike lives marked by peace, purpose, and quiet authority.

Daily Application:
Choose restraint today by responding calmly in a moment where anger or ego would normally lead. Let principle, not impulse, guide your words.
