“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” — John 1:14
“Christmas is God reminding a restless world that love came first and still leads.” — Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
On this holy morning, the world pauses, even if only briefly, to remember a birth that changed the course of history. Christmas is not merely a tradition wrapped in lights and sentiment. It is a declaration that heaven entered earth with purpose. The Christ child was not born to impress kings or command armies. He came quietly, lawfully, and humbly, honoring both divine order and human agency. In that moment, God affirmed the sacred worth of every soul and the eternal power of choice.
Freedom is often misunderstood as the absence of restraint, but Christmas teaches a higher truth. Real freedom flows from alignment with moral law. Christ did not arrive to abolish responsibility but to ennoble it. He lived among common people, worked with His hands, and taught with clarity. His life testified that liberty is preserved not by force, but by truth lived consistently. Just as light fills a room without coercion, Christ invites rather than compels, offering a path that must be chosen daily.
Consider the simplicity of the manger. It was not an accident of poverty, but a lesson in priorities. God entrusted the Savior of the world to a family who would teach Him obedience, diligence, and faith. Christmas reminds us that strong nations and strong families are built the same way, through sacrifice, covenant, and reverence for God. When hearts are governed by truth, societies flourish. When conscience is honored, peace follows.
Christ’s birth calls us to live higher than appetite and fear. It invites us to forgive, to serve, and to stand firm in righteousness even when the world is loud and uncertain. To follow Him is to choose love over convenience and principle over popularity. Christmas is not only something we celebrate. It is something we live. In choosing His way, we walk the path of Christlike living that blesses homes, communities, and generations.
