Commentary:
Agency is one of God’s greatest endowments, yet it is often misunderstood as mere preference or convenience. True agency carries responsibility. Every decision plants a seed, and whether it grows into peace or regret depends on the soil of our intent. Freedom without accountability collapses into chaos, but freedom paired with stewardship builds a life that honors God and blesses others. We cannot choose consequences, but we can choose the direction that invites them.
Accountability is not punishment. It is the mirror that helps us see clearly and walk uprightly. Just as a compass keeps a traveler from wandering, honest self-assessment protects the heart from drifting into pride or complacency. When we acknowledge where we have fallen short, we create space for the Lord to lift, refine, and redirect us. Accountability becomes a quiet courage that aligns our will with His, leading us toward a Christlike life rooted in integrity and truth.
