“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” — 2 Corinthians 5:7
“Faith sees the promise before the proof appears.” — Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
We live in a world that trains us to trust what we can measure. Screens glow, headlines shout, markets rise and fall, and opinions shift with the wind. Sight feels immediate and convincing. Yet sight is limited. It only reports what stands directly in front of us. Faith, by contrast, anchors us to what is eternal. It calls us to act on truth before outcomes are visible. Walking by faith is not denial of reality. It is alignment with a higher reality governed by God’s moral law.
Consider a farmer planting seed in early spring. The soil looks empty long after the work is done. No visible evidence proves that harvest is coming. Still, he waters, tends, and waits. He understands a principle woven into creation. Growth follows faithful labor. In the same way, obedience often feels unseen at first. Integrity may go unnoticed. Prayer may seem unanswered. Courage may look costly. Yet God’s promises operate like the seasons. When we live by principle rather than impulse, we participate in a harvest we cannot yet see.
Freedom itself depends on this kind of faith. A free people must believe that virtue matters even when vice appears easier. They must trust that truth prevails even when lies seem louder. Agency is a sacred gift, and with it comes responsibility to choose what is right before results are certain. Christ modeled this perfectly. He endured the cross for the joy set before Him. He walked by faith in the Father’s will, not by the sight of present suffering. When we choose faith over fear, we reflect His character and walk in His steps.
