“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” — 1 John 1:9
“Stillness before God is not surrender to fear; it is confidence that truth will prevail.” — Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
Airplanes reach their destinations not because a pilot charts a course once and forgets it, but because the course is constantly corrected. Winds shift, turbulence shakes the cabin, storms demand rerouting, and instruments must be checked again and again. The miracle is not a perfect flight path. The miracle is faithful adjustment. Life works the same way. Moral drift happens quietly, often without our noticing. Daily repentance is the discipline of checking the instruments of the soul and making small, honest corrections before distance becomes danger.
Repentance is often misunderstood as shame-driven or backward-looking. In truth, it is forward momentum. It acknowledges that agency is real and that freedom requires stewardship. When a pilot corrects course, no one accuses him of failure. We trust him because he adjusts. Likewise, a free people remain free by self-government of the heart. Daily repentance preserves liberty by aligning desire with truth and action with law. It keeps conscience sharp and faith active. It is not about self-condemnation, but about self-command.
Storms will come. Culture will push. Weakness will surface. None of these disqualify us from the journey. They simply require attention. Repentance invites Christ into the cockpit, not as a passenger, but as the Master who teaches us how to fly true. As we practice small, daily corrections, we become steadier, humbler, and more reliable in love. This is Christlike living: choosing alignment over excuse and progress over pride.
