“Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.” — 1 Corinthians 14:1
“The gifts of the Spirit are not medals to display. They are tools God places in willing hands to bless His children.” — Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
God never intended His spiritual gifts to become a source of pride or comparison. They are given to strengthen faith, encourage the weary, teach truth, and serve others with love. Just as a craftsman selects the right tool for a specific task, our Heavenly Father equips each of His children with gifts that fit His purposes. When we seek those gifts with humility, we become more useful in His hands.
In a free society, people flourish when individuals willingly contribute their unique talents for the good of all. The same principle operates in God’s kingdom. Some are gifted with wisdom, others with compassion, discernment, leadership, generosity, or quiet faithfulness. Every gift matters because every person matters. We diminish ourselves when we envy another’s calling, but we grow when we faithfully develop what God has entrusted to us.
Seeking the gifts of the Spirit is not about gaining recognition. It is about becoming more capable of loving God and serving our neighbors. As we pray for heavenly gifts and exercise them with gratitude, our hearts become more Christlike, and His light shines more clearly through our daily lives.

Pray today for one spiritual gift that will help you better serve someone else, then look for an opportunity to put that gift into action before the day ends.
