“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock.” — Matthew 7:24
“Storms do not create the strength of a foundation. They simply reveal what was built long before the wind arrived.” — Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
Every life is under construction. Day by day, choice by choice, we are laying stones that will determine whether we stand firm or crumble when adversity comes. A strong foundation is rarely admired while the weather is calm, yet it becomes priceless when the rain falls and the winds rise. Character is built the same way. Quiet acts of integrity, faithful obedience, and daily repentance may seem ordinary, but they prepare us for extraordinary challenges.
Building upon a rock requires patience because solid foundations are hidden beneath the surface. A builder who rushes the process may save time today but invite disaster tomorrow. The same principle governs our spiritual lives. Freedom without truth becomes chaos, and faith without obedience becomes fragile. God has given us moral law not to restrict our joy but to secure it. His commandments are like bedrock beneath a home, providing stability that cannot be manufactured by emotion or convenience.
Jesus Christ declared Himself to be the sure foundation upon which lasting lives are built. When we anchor our decisions in His teachings instead of shifting cultural opinions, we discover a peace that circumstances cannot steal. The world rewards appearances, but the Lord strengthens foundations. As we choose faithfulness in the small things, we become the kind of disciples who remain steady through both blessing and trial. That is the pattern of Christlike living.
