“For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.” —Romans 8:24-25
“Hope is not wishful thinking. It is the quiet confidence that God is already preparing what faith cannot yet see.” — Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
Hope is one of the greatest gifts God gives His children because it keeps us moving when circumstances tempt us to quit. The world often treats hope as uncertainty, something fragile that disappears when life becomes difficult. Scripture teaches something very different. Biblical hope is anchored in the character of God, not the changing conditions around us. It reminds us that what God has promised is just as certain before we see it as after it arrives.
Think of a farmer who plants seeds in the spring. He does not dig them up every morning to see if they are growing. He waters, waits, and trusts the process because he knows growth is happening beneath the surface. Our walk with Christ is much the same. We may not immediately see answers to prayer, restored relationships, or the fulfillment of God’s promises, but hope gives us the courage to remain faithful while God works where our eyes cannot see.
Hope also strengthens a free people. It inspires responsibility instead of despair, perseverance instead of surrender, and gratitude instead of complaint. When we live with hope, we refuse to let fear become our master because we know the Lord remains sovereign over every circumstance. Christ demonstrated this perfectly by enduring the cross with confidence in the Father’s greater purpose. Following Him means choosing hope even when the outcome has not yet appeared.
Scripture:
“For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.” — Romans 8:24-25
Daily Application:
Choose one situation that has tested your patience and intentionally replace anxious thoughts with a prayer of trust. Thank God for what He is doing behind the scenes, even if you cannot yet see the results.

Hope in times like these is easy for me to forget- I do use too much on the external- which in reality is sinful. I am always aware of God-His presence in this world but I forget HOPE. Thank you for the reminder.
