"But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience." — Luke 8:15
“Great faith is rarely born full-grown; it is cultivated one faithful choice at a time.” — Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
Jesus taught that faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains. The power was never in the size of the seed but in the life contained within it. A mustard seed is small, almost insignificant in appearance, yet it carries the potential for remarkable growth. In the same way, faith begins with simple acts of trust. A prayer offered in uncertainty, a decision to obey when the outcome is unclear, or a willingness to stand for truth when it is unpopular are all seeds planted in fertile soil.
Many people wait until they feel strong before they exercise faith. Yet faith grows through use, much like a muscle develops through resistance. A farmer does not dig up a seed each day to see if it is growing. He waters it, protects it, and trusts the process. Likewise, we cultivate faith by consistently turning to God, studying His word, and acting upon correct principles even when immediate results are not visible. Freedom itself depends upon this principle. Every lasting blessing requires trust in laws that govern growth, whether spiritual, moral, or temporal.
The adversary often persuades people that small efforts do not matter. Christ teaches the opposite. Small acts of faith, repeated over time, produce strength, wisdom, and courage. As we nourish even a mustard-seed measure of faith, God multiplies its influence in our lives and enables us to become more like Jesus Christ.
Scripture:
“If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” — Matthew 17:20
Daily Application:
Plant one mustard-seed act of faith today by obeying a prompting from God that you have been delaying, no matter how small it may seem.
