“But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.” — Matthew 9:22
“Faith is not measured by the strength of your hand, but by the confidence of your heart in the One you reach for.” — Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
The woman with the issue of blood had exhausted every earthly solution. For twelve long years she carried not only physical suffering but also the loneliness and shame that often accompany prolonged trials. Yet when she heard that Jesus was near, she chose hope over despair. She believed that even touching the hem of His garment would be enough. Her faith was not loud or demanding. It was quiet, determined, and unwavering.
Life often feels like that crowd surrounding Jesus. Responsibilities, disappointments, distractions, and fears press in from every side. It is easy to believe that our needs are too small, our failures too great, or our circumstances too complicated for the Savior’s attention. But Christ stopped for one faithful woman because heaven always recognizes sincere faith. Like planting a seed in dry soil before the rain comes, faith acts on God’s promises before we see the harvest.
Jesus did more than heal her body. He restored her dignity by calling her “Daughter” and reminding everyone that her faith had made her whole. The Lord still responds to hearts that trust Him completely. When we reach toward Him with humility and obedience, we discover that His power is always greater than our weakness. That is the path of Christlike living.
Scripture:
“For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.” — Matthew 9:21–22
Daily Application:
Reach for Christ first today before reaching for worry, frustration, or worldly solutions. Offer Him your greatest burden in prayer, then take one faithful step forward, trusting that He sees you even in the middle of life's crowded moments.
