“Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?” — Galatians 4:16
“Truth does not become harsh because it is firm, and love does not become weak because it is kind.” — Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
We are living in a time when conviction is often confused with hostility. To stand for truth is labeled aggression, and to defend moral boundaries is called intolerance. Yet truth is not a weapon; it is a foundation. A house built on sand may appear peaceful in calm weather, but when the storm comes, it collapses. A house built on rock may seem rigid, but it stands. In the same way, a life anchored in truth remains steady when culture shifts.
Freedom depends on truth. Without it, freedom becomes chaos. Moral law is not a cage; it is a guardrail. A guardrail does not restrict the driver’s journey; it protects the driver from destruction. When we abandon truth to avoid criticism, we do not become more loving. We become unstable. Compromise may win temporary approval, but it forfeits lasting integrity. Standing for truth with humility preserves both conscience and country.
Christ never softened truth to gain acceptance, yet He delivered it with compassion. He corrected without cruelty and loved without surrendering righteousness. As His followers, we are called to do the same. Courage does not shout; it stands. Love does not yield to falsehood; it speaks clearly and gently. When we align our words and actions with God’s truth, we reflect Christlike strength that is both firm and gracious.
