“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” — Micah 6:8
“Justice that is not anchored in righteousness becomes opinion; righteousness gives justice its authority.” — Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
In every generation, people cry out for justice. It is a noble desire, placed in the human heart by God Himself. Yet justice cannot stand on shifting ground. If it is built only on emotion, culture, or convenience, it bends with the wind. True justice is not defined by popular opinion but by eternal truth. God does not separate justice from righteousness because righteousness is His very nature. It is the standard that does not change.
Consider a scale used in trade. If the scale is tampered with, every measurement becomes unreliable. In the same way, when righteousness is removed from justice, fairness is distorted. What seems right in the moment may actually harm in the long run. God’s law is not restrictive. It is protective. It ensures that justice is consistent, impartial, and rooted in what is eternally good rather than temporarily satisfying.
This principle calls each of us to look inward before we look outward. It is easy to demand justice from others while neglecting righteousness in our own lives. But God’s pattern is clear. Personal integrity fuels societal justice. When individuals choose honesty, humility, and obedience, justice becomes more than a demand. It becomes a natural outcome. Living this way reflects the character of Christ, who perfectly embodies both righteousness and justice.
Scripture:
“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” — Micah 6:8
Daily Application:
Examine one decision you will make today and align it with what is right, not just what feels justified.

Love the comparison to a scale measurement, what if the scale is off? Then the measurement is off! We need to keep the scale accurate to measure with, just as we need to keep our own values aligned with the truth of God. Thank you.
Thank you.
