“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
“Christ’s invitation is not reserved for the perfect, but for the willing.” — Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
As we approach Palm Sunday, we remember the moment Jesus entered Jerusalem, not as a conquering king by worldly standards, but as a humble Savior. The crowds welcomed Him with praise, yet many did not fully understand the invitation He was extending. It was not a call to temporary celebration, but to lasting transformation. His life, and ultimately His sacrifice, opened the way for all to come unto Him.
This invitation is deeply personal. It is not forced, nor is it limited by past mistakes or present struggles. Christ calls each individual with patience and purpose. Like a door left open, His grace waits to be received. Yet walking through that door requires a choice. Just as those in Jerusalem had to decide whether to follow Him beyond the moment of praise, we too must decide whether we will draw closer to Him in sincerity, not just in seasons of celebration.
Preparation for Palm Sunday is more than remembrance. It is reflection. Are we merely acknowledging Christ, or are we truly coming unto Him? The difference lies in our willingness to surrender pride, align our lives with His teachings, and trust in His redeeming power. When we accept His invitation fully, we find not only peace, but purpose. This is the path of Christlike living, where faith becomes action and devotion becomes transformation.
