“Remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.” — Luke 24:6–7
“To remember Christ is to return to Him, for memory awakens devotion and devotion leads us home.” — Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
Easter stands as one of the most sacred reminders ever given to mankind. It is not merely a season, nor a tradition, but a call to remember the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. In a world filled with noise and distraction, it is easy for the sacred to be overshadowed by the seasonal. Symbols like baskets, candy, and the Easter bunny may entertain, but they cannot redeem. They may amuse for a moment, but they cannot save a soul. The power of Easter lies not in what is marketed, but in what is remembered.
The word “remember” carries divine weight in scripture. It is not passive recall but active devotion. To remember Christ is to bring His sacrifice into our daily decisions. Just as a citizen remembers the cost of freedom by honoring those who defended it, a disciple remembers the Savior by living the principles He died to uphold. The Atonement is not simply a past event. It is a present power and a future promise. It is God’s greatest gift, offered freely but received through faith, repentance, and obedience.
When we forget, we drift. When we remember, we realign. The adversary seeks to cloud our focus with lesser things, but truth calls us back to what matters most. The empty tomb is not just proof of life after death. It is a declaration that through Christ, we can overcome sin, weakness, and separation from God. To center our Easter on Him is to choose light over distraction and purpose over passivity. In remembering Him, we learn to live as He lived.
