“Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.” — 1 Corinthians 16:13
“Courage is not loud anger but quiet resolve anchored in truth.” — Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
There are moments in history and in our personal lives when silence becomes surrender. To shrink from the fight when truth is under assault is not humility, it is neglect. Faith was never meant to be fragile. It was forged in the furnace of persecution, tested in courts, and proven in prisons. When we are called to defend our beliefs, the innocent, the oppressed, our allies, and the freedoms entrusted to us, we are not choosing conflict for its own sake. We are choosing stewardship. Freedom is never self-sustaining. It must be guarded by men and women who understand that rights come from God and carry responsibility.
A shepherd does not apologize for driving away wolves. A parent does not hesitate when a child is in danger. In the same way, a believer does not retreat when moral truth is distorted or when the vulnerable are targeted. Courage is not recklessness. It is disciplined strength under moral law. It speaks with clarity but without hatred. It stands firm without surrendering to rage. When we defend what is right, we do so remembering that every person involved bears God’s image. Our aim is not domination but preservation of what is just and good.
Christ Himself confronted hypocrisy, defended the powerless, and refused to compromise truth even when it cost Him everything. To live in a Christlike way is to combine conviction with compassion, strength with mercy, and bravery with obedience.
