“But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.” — Matthew 23:11
“True leadership is not proven by how many follow you, but by how many you choose to lift.” — Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
In a world that often equates leadership with power, position, or recognition, the Lord teaches a higher law. Leadership is not about being served, but about serving. It is the quiet strength to kneel when others expect you to stand above, and the courage to put others first when it costs you something. Like a shepherd who walks among the flock rather than driving from behind, godly leadership is personal, attentive, and sacrificial.
Service-centered leadership reflects the principle of agency. It does not coerce or compel, but invites, uplifts, and inspires. When we lead through service, we honor the divine worth of others and create environments where freedom and responsibility flourish together. A parent who listens, a manager who supports, or a friend who shows up consistently demonstrates this kind of leadership. It is not loud, but it is deeply influential.
Christ exemplified this perfectly. He washed feet, healed the broken, and gave His life willingly. He did not lead to gain authority; He led because He loved. When we follow His pattern, we become leaders who build rather than dominate, who strengthen rather than control. This is leadership that reflects heaven’s order and invites others to rise in their own God-given potential.
