“The seed is the word of God.” — Luke 8:11
“God often hides eternal truth inside ordinary moments so that anyone willing to look closely can find it.” — Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
Jesus rarely taught in abstract theories. Instead, He spoke of seeds, fields, lamps, fishermen, and lost coins. These were not random illustrations. They were invitations. A parable turns everyday life into a classroom where spiritual truth becomes visible. When a farmer watched seeds grow, he could understand faith. When a shepherd searched for a lost sheep, he could see the heart of God.
Parables have practical power because they connect heaven to the ordinary rhythms of life. A story about soil teaches us about the condition of our hearts. A mustard seed reminds us that small acts of faith can grow into something far greater than we imagine. In this way, Christ showed that divine principles are not reserved for scholars or religious elites. Truth lives in the daily choices of ordinary people who are willing to listen and apply what they learn.
This teaching method also respects human agency. A parable reveals truth to the humble while allowing the indifferent to pass it by. Just as good soil receives the seed, a willing heart receives wisdom. Freedom requires responsibility, and Christ honored that principle by inviting people to seek, ponder, and act. His stories still do the same today. They ask us not only to understand the message but to live it.
When we begin to see life through the lens of Christ’s parables, the world changes. Work becomes stewardship. Kindness becomes ministry. Small acts of faith become seeds of future harvest. Living this way turns everyday life into a quiet walk with the Savior.
