“And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord's, and he will give you into our hands.” — 1 Samuel 17:47
“God’s power is revealed when we stop measuring ourselves by the world’s rulers.” — Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
David stood before Goliath with no armor, no rank, and no reputation. By every earthly metric, he was outmatched. Yet David understood something the battlefield could not measure. He knew that strength rooted in God outweighs any visible advantage. Faith is not denial of reality. It is clarity about a higher one. When we rely solely on credentials, experience, or approval, we shrink our possibilities to human limits.
In daily life, many giants appear just as intimidating. A financial risk, a leadership role, a calling that feels too large. The temptation is to wait until we feel qualified. Yet God often calls before qualifications are visible. Like a seed planted in dry ground, faith grows not because conditions are perfect, but because the source is divine. When we act with conviction, we align ourselves with a power that does not depend on appearances.
Christ lived this same principle. He chose fishermen over scholars and humility over status, showing that God works through willing hearts more than impressive resumes.
