Daily Devotional - May 9th, 2026
“And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.” — Matthew 26:75

Commentary:
Peter’s denial was sudden and painful. The same man who declared loyalty faltered under pressure. Yet his story did not end there. Failure exposed his weakness, but it also prepared him for deeper strength. Growth often requires a humbling moment that reshapes our dependence.
We tend to label ourselves by our mistakes. But failure is a teacher, not a sentence. Like a cracked foundation being repaired, it allows us to rebuild stronger than before. The key is not avoiding failure entirely, but responding to it with repentance and renewed commitment.
Christ restored Peter, not by ignoring his failure, but by reaffirming his purpose. This shows that God’s plans are not canceled by our imperfections.
