"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." — James 1:5
“Ever pondered what searching the scriptures really means? If I told you I spent an hour searching Google, you would ask what I was searching for. How much more could we learn if we first decided what we wanted to know and then searched the scriptures for the answer?” — Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
Purposeful, targeted study yields far better results than casual, unfocused reading. Just as a miner digs with intention to find gold, we must open the Bible with a clear sense of what we seek. When we bring our questions, struggles, and decisions before God and search His word for direction, the Spirit illuminates truth in ways we would never discover by accident.
The Bible is not a book of random sayings but a divine library of living answers. Every verse, story, and commandment holds eternal principles that apply to modern life: our families, work, relationships, and even the future of our nations. As we read with purpose, we find not only knowledge but also light, truth that pierces confusion and restores clarity. To study the scriptures with intent is to engage in a personal conversation with God, where He speaks to the honest seeker.
Christ Himself taught with precision and purpose, always addressing the real needs of those who came to Him. When we study His word the same way, seeking specific counsel and applying what we learn, we walk more closely in His footsteps and strengthen our spiritual discernment.
Scripture:
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” — James 1:5
Daily Application:
Identify one specific question, decision, or challenge you’re facing today. Write it down, then open your Bible and search for scriptures that address it. Study those verses prayerfully, asking the Lord to reveal how to apply them directly to your situation.
