“And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.” — 1 Peter 4:8
“True love will never last beyond our willingness to sustain it. It’s a fire that needs patience and humility to maintain it. Like the dew on a summer’s morn it can be fleeting if we ignore it. But it can last for all eternity if we strive to uphold it.” — Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
Love is both a gift we receive and a responsibility we honor. Feelings may spark the beginning, but choices carry the flame forward. Modern culture often treats love as something that simply happens to us, yet Scripture invites us to see love as something we practice with purpose. When we choose patience, forgiveness, and thoughtfulness, we build a foundation strong enough to endure the seasons of life.
Marriage and committed relationships grow the same way gardens do. Neglect allows weeds to creep in, but steady tending turns small seeds into lasting beauty. Couples who endure are not those who escape hardship but those who step toward each other in hardship. Their love is strengthened not by ease but by deliberate effort. As we invest in love through service and sincerity, we reflect the steadfast nature of Christ and learn to love as He loves.
Scripture:
“And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.” — 1 Peter 4:8
Daily Application:
Do something today that actively demonstrates love rather than merely feeling it. If you are single, practice the habits of love through kindness, service, and generosity in your friendships and family relationships.
