“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” — Matthew 5:48
“Although we cannot reach complete perfection in this mortal life, our loving Father in Heaven has given us opportunities to be whole and consistent in specific things. We can be steady in honesty, faithful in relationships, devoted in service, sincere in prayer, and diligent in scripture study.” - Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
While overall perfection may feel beyond our reach, we can achieve wholeness and consistency in specific areas through focused effort. These small areas of spiritual strength become the foundation for broader growth.
When we are steady in honesty, we develop integrity for greater challenges. When we are consistent in spiritual practices like prayer or scripture study, we build strength for deeper spiritual experiences. Wholeness in simple things prepares us to handle life’s complexities with faith and confidence.
Scripture:
“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” — Matthew 5:48
Daily Application:
Choose one spiritual practice where you can strive for steady consistency; perhaps complete honesty today, daily prayer this week, or reliability in keeping commitments. Focusing on one area at a time makes spiritual growth feel attainable and sustainable.
