“…and that we must through much tribulation enter into kingdom of God.” — Acts 14:22
“Opposition is necessary to differentiate good from evil. Opposition helps us solidify our conviction of what is right. Opposition to death, gives us the will to live; opposition to tyranny is our desire to be free.” - Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
We discover our values not in comfort but in conflict. Opposition forces us to define what we stand for and why. Without resistance, our convictions remain untested theory rather than proven truth.
Opposition clarifies truth because it forces comparison. We only recognize the sweetness of light by having experienced darkness. We only treasure liberty because tyranny exists as its alternative. This is not an accident of life but a divine design. God allows opposition to refine His children, much like metal is purified by fire or muscles strengthened by resistance.
If life were free from opposition, our agency would be meaningless. With no real alternative, there is no real choice. And without choice, there is no growth, no accountability, and no joy.
Thus, the trials you face are not merely interruptions to your journey, they are often the very conditions under which your faith, character, and purpose are forged. Every obstacle is an invitation: Will you yield to despair, or will you allow it to prove your commitment to truth and righteousness?
Scripture:
“…and that we must through much tribulation enter into kingdom of God.” — Acts 14:22
Daily Application:
Identify a current source of opposition in your life. Instead of only seeing it as a problem, ask: What is this resistance teaching me about my values? How can I let it strengthen my convictions rather than weaken them? Then prayerfully commit to face that challenge with renewed faith, recognizing that God uses opposition not to destroy us but to prepare us for something greater.
