Commentary:
A radio can be surrounded by signals and still produce nothing but static if it is tuned to the wrong frequency. The problem is not that the signal has disappeared. The receiver simply needs adjustment. Our spiritual lives can work much the same way. God has not ceased to guide His children, but our hearts can become crowded with hurry, entertainment, fear, anger, and endless opinion. The Holy Ghost speaks with quiet clarity, and hearing Him often requires us to deliberately make room.
Spiritual sensitivity is not merely a feeling. It grows through choices. Prayer tunes us. Scripture steadies us. Repentance clears interference. Obedience teaches us to recognize the Lord’s voice by acting on what He has already shown us. Freedom itself depends upon this kind of moral attentiveness. Agency is more than having the power to choose. It is developing the wisdom to recognize what is true and the courage to follow it. A conscience repeatedly ignored becomes easier to silence, while a prompting faithfully followed prepares us to receive more light.
We should not expect heaven to compete with every distraction we willingly invite into our lives. Sometimes the most important spiritual adjustment is simply becoming quiet enough to notice what God has been saying all along. As we turn down the noise, repent quickly, and act on righteous impressions, our lives become better tuned to the Spirit, and we grow more capable of living as Christ lived, attentive to the Father and ready to do His will.

Create ten minutes of uninterrupted quiet today. Put away your phone, pray sincerely, then sit with a notebook and ask, “Lord, what would You have me know or do?” Write down the impressions that come, and act on one righteous prompting.
