Thanksgiving Devotional - November 27th, 2025
“In every thing give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18
“Gratitude turns what we have into strength, because it opens our eyes to the quiet miracles God has already placed in our care. — Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
Thanksgiving invites us to pause and see life as it truly is: a series of gifts from a loving Father. Gratitude is more than polite acknowledgment. It is a form of spiritual clarity that reminds us we are not wandering in a world of scarcity but walking with a God who provides what we need for growth, service, and joy. When we choose to be thankful, we shift our focus from what is missing to what is possible, and that shift strengthens both faith and character.
A grateful heart guards our freedom. It grounds us against envy, fear, and resentment, all of which can cloud our agency and weaken our resolve to act with purpose. Gratitude works like the light of dawn spreading across a landscape. Suddenly what was hidden becomes visible and what seemed small becomes significant. The daily blessings of breath, work, relationships, and spiritual guidance reveal a pattern of divine care. Recognizing these gifts teaches us to steward them well, and stewardship is at the center of Christlike living.
Thankfulness also stabilizes the soul in seasons of hardship. It does not deny pain, but it declares that God is present within it. Even in trials, gratitude helps us remember that we are being shaped, not abandoned. This steady acknowledgment of God’s goodness prepares our hearts to serve others with compassion, the way Christ served with an awareness of His Father’s constant provision.
