“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” — Hebrews 10:25
“Faith grows in fellowship, but withers in isolation.” — Alma Ohene-Opare
Commentary:
God did not design His children to walk alone. From the beginning, He declared that it is not good for man to be alone, and that truth extends beyond companionship into spiritual life. When believers gather, something sacred happens. Testimonies are strengthened, burdens are shared, and truth is sharpened. Isolation, on the other hand, often invites discouragement and distortion. A coal removed from the fire quickly loses its heat, but when placed among others, it burns bright again.
Christ Himself modeled this principle. He taught multitudes, walked with disciples, and established a pattern of gathering, teaching, and breaking bread together. Even in His most sacred moments, He invited others to watch and pray with Him. The adversary thrives in separation, where doubts grow unchecked and accountability fades. Freedom, both spiritual and moral, is preserved when individuals choose to stand together in truth and righteousness.
In a world that increasingly promotes independence without responsibility, gathering as believers becomes an act of quiet courage. It is a declaration that we need God and we need each other. Unity does not weaken personal agency; it strengthens it by aligning hearts toward a higher law. Choosing to meet, worship, and serve together reflects the very nature of Christ, who gathers, lifts, and redeems.
