Daily Devotional - May 8th, 2026
“And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.” — Luke 15:20

Commentary:
The prodigal son’s story is not just about rebellion. It is about recognition. At his lowest point, he saw clearly the cost of his choices and chose to return. Redemption begins with honesty. It requires humility to admit we have strayed, but that humility opens the door to restoration.
Many hesitate to return because of shame. They believe they must fix everything first. Yet the father in the story ran to meet his son before any restitution was made. This reveals a powerful truth. God values repentance more than perfection. The act of turning back carries more weight than the distance we wandered.
Christ embodied this grace continually, welcoming those society rejected and restoring those who turned to Him.
